A Tale of Two Courtyards

A Tropical Summer Wedding at Hermann-Grima House & Broussard's for Jaquita + Carlton

THE STORY

Jaquita & Carlton met acting in a play (cast as boyfriend and girlfriend) as freshmen at NYU's Tisch school of the arts. Although the two both deny feeling an immediate spark, clearly this interaction set the stage (ha!) for a budding romance.

THE SENTIMENTAL MOMENT

Throughout planning, Jaquita mentioned her grandmother several times and when we met her we understood why.  The woman was the epitome of class, glamour, and poise.  Her connection with Jaquita was profound and we died over her outfit, which apparently she wore to the Emmy's many years ago.

THE DRESS

Jaquita looked stunning in Theia's Tara Gown.

THE SURPRISE!

Of course!  The Pompom shoes by Aquazzura! (and Carlton's weren't bad either)

THE FRIENDS

No bridesmaids for this modern bride, but that didn't stop her from being surrounded by an eclectic group of beauties.

THE FAMILY

Dad, Osayande, stole the show in this respect. Wearing a brilliant blue dashiki, he doubled as doting father and loving officiant.

THE CEREMONY

Jaquita & Carlton both had amazing entrances that embodied their spirits.  Carlton danced down the aisle to Andre 3000's verse in "International Players Anthem", by UGK, flipping off his coat and getting plenty of cheers from their guests.  Jaquita laughed her way down the aisle to "Somebody's Getting Married," by The Muppets.

THE VENUES

Two Classic French Quarter Courtyards for this exuberant couple. Hermann-Grima House for the ceremony and Broussard's for the reception.

THE DECOR DETAILS

Jaquita sent us TONS of succulents from Los Angeles, tying elements of her home environment in with the tropical atmosphere of the New Orleans summer.

THE DANCING

One of Jaquita's best friends behind the DJ booth made certain this crowd kicked it all night long.

THE CAKE

Or not....District Donuts provided the confections for this donut loving couple. Flavors: Wedding Cake, Carrot Cake and Maple Sriracha.  We also featured vegan salted caramel donuts from Rocket Girl for the guests who are animal free.

THE SEND OFF

On to the after party and after after party (and the after after after party?) but first, a costume change.

Sigh... the only sad part is that it's over!
