Mid City + Bayou + April + Andrea + Evan = Magical!
Andrea and Evan were one of our favorite couples this year. To say they took a "relaxed" approach to wedding planning is a complete understatement. When we met them in November of 2016, they told us they had a wedding date in April and invitations all set.. but had one important detail missing... the venue! Their 200 person wedding certainly presented a challenge, but since they were so flexible and willing to follow our lead we were able to plan their beautiful yet breezy, "back-yard" style wedding at the Pitot House in just 5 short months. Andrea and Even both work long hours (in education, my heroes!) so they really let C&K take the reins which led to some fun and creative ideas from us.
THE SENTIMENTAL MOMENT
These two came to their union already partnered, with fur babies! A+E's blended fur family was prominent in all parts of the day, including the ceremony. We love you Frank and Meli!
Andrea chose a grey, lace wedding dress from BHLDN. It was a sweet surprise to see a bride in a non-white dress, and smart for the bride too. Choosing from the bridesmaid's section definitely saved her a penny (or 300,000).
Bridal parties were a mix of friends and siblings (even the officiant!) and everyone had a relaxed and positive attitude throughout the day. Keeping it low key and local in the couple's neighborhood (the venue is walking distance from their house) definitely worked for this group.
Not that the humans in this group weren't special, but I've got to give the family section back to the fur family- such sweet and loving pups!
We still obsess over this simple and heartfelt ceremony held above the crowd on the Pitot House Balcony. The ceremony featured moving speeches and everyone in the group had a perfect view. We also love that couple was able to look at all of their guests while they said their vows.
When the couple described what they wanted for the vibe of this party we thought the big open lawn at Pitot House would be perfect. They got lucky on
THE DECOR DETAILS
We kept this homey with picnic tables, sweet pops of red against bright blue, stark white vases and homemade festoon lighting for the dance floor. We brought a picnic feel with some large outdoor rugs, pillows for star gazing and custom handwritten signs. We were super happy for guests to tell us how "them" the party felt - like it was at their house!
One of the best dance parties we saw all year, with a tailored setlist from the groom focused on mod dance jams and some inspired ad-libbing from our favorite DJ, Brice Nice. Plus, you can't beat boogying under the stars.
A classic confetti cake from Chasing Wang looked pretty offset by Beth Biundo's cupcakes and cookies. Of course, there was also a groom's cake featuring Frank's furry face.
At the end of the night, the caterers served high-life ponies and hotdogs at the couple's request and the newlyweds led everyone to Cabrini Bridge for a romantic sparkler sendoff. Also, the groom threw the bouquet this time!
After the sparklers, the couple piled into a pickup truck with friends and led the party to a nearby patio bar to continue the celebration.
